Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS)

Advanced Electromagnetic Control for Mission-Critical Systems

Sensor Systems, Inc. designs and manufactures Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS) to support aerospace, defense, and space applications. FSS technology enables intelligent control of RF propagation – filtering, reflecting, or transmitting specific frequencies while remaining transparent to others.

What is FSS?

Frequency Selective Surfaces are periodic structures that interact with electromagnetic waves to perform specific functions like filtering, absorbing, or polarizing. FSS can be integrated into aircraft skins, radomes, windows, or antenna covers to enhance RF performance and stealth capabilities

Key Capabilities

Custom RF Filtering:

  • Bandpass, bandstop, notch, and hybrid responses
  • Optimized for radar, SATCOM, EW, and 5G/6G coexistence
  • Tailored to suppress interference or enhance isolation

Flexible Form Factors:

  • Planar, curved, or embedded structures
  • Low-profile, conformal designs
  • FSS radomes and antenna windows

Material and Process Expertise:

  • Printed, etched, or embedded structures
  • Composite-compatible materials
  • High-performance dielectrics and coatings

Tested to Perform:

  • Full-wave simulation and in-house test validation
  • MIL-STD-810, DO-160, and custom environmental specs
  • Frequency coverage from L-band to millimeter wave

Applications

  • Co-site mitigation
  • Stealth and signature control
  • SATCOM / telemetry windows
  • Multi-band platform support
  • EW shielding and countermeasures
